GAI Consultants is looking for a talented Bridge Engineer to join our growing Indiana Transportation Team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects for INDOT and local government clients while collaborating with experienced bridge professionals throughout the region.

From day one, you'll contribute to challenging and rewarding bridge design projects that improve safety, mobility, and infrastructure resilience across Indiana. You'll also partner with multidisciplinary teams in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia , gaining broad project experience and exposure to a variety of engineering approaches and best practices.

Job Duties:

\n
    \n
  • Plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO and INDOT standards.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with other professionals from various departments and disciplines in order to discuss project challenges and engineering solutions needed to help our clients deliver their programs.
  • \n
  • Perform work as part of a team or as a task manager, in accordance with the project budget and schedule limitations under moderate supervision.
  • \n
  • Assist other Project Managers in preparing scope and fee proposals and Letter-of-Interest proposals.
  • \n
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to the project team to ensure quality technical services.
  • \n
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with quality control standards and client requirements.
  • \n
  • Participate in occasional site visits in construction sites and remote outdoor work environments.
  • \n
  • Occasional travel to client meetings and site visits.
  • \n
\n

Minimum Requirements:

\n
    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. A Master of Science in Structures is preferred.
  • \n
  • Registered PE in Indiana
  • \n
  • Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • \n
  • Experience with INDOT standards, specifications, design manuals, and deliverables for Federally Funded Projects.
  • \n
  • Experience with delivering projects for Local Municipalities and Counties.
  • \n
  • Experience with structural analysis and design programs for bridge design (Ex: LEAP Concrete, MDX, Midas, AASHTOWare, and/or other comparable software)
  • \n
  • Proficiency in CADD, Microstation preferred.
  • \n
  • Experience in bridge inspection or desire to participate in bridge inspection services preferred.
  • \n
  • Minimum of 4 years total engineering or technical experience.
  • \n

  • Occasionally assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff.
  • \n
  • Occasionally plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
  • \n
  • Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • \n
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.
  • \n

Management Responsibility

  • Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance on unconventional/complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
  • \n
  • Mentors junior staff by providing guidance, explaining professional responsibilities, and reviewing work products.
  • \n
  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • \n
